More than 15 contracts and 134 intent letters between the main economic actors of the territory was the preliminary result of the Tourism-Supplier Companies Business Round developed in Las Tunas, as part of the Cuba 2021 Productive Economic Journey.

Las Tunas, Cuba - The meeting, which brought together local businessmen and non-state management, had as its main premise to exhibit and negotiate goods and services with the institutions of the Ministry of Tourism (Mintur, by its acronym in Spanish), a key sector in the national economic development. A meeting that transcended by the promotion and encouragement of import substitution, top priority of the Cuban economy, in addition to the search for productive linkages between local actors.
Yoannis Basalo Barreras, senior specialist of the Department of Foreign Trade, Foreign Investment and International Cooperation of the Provincial Government, explained that the event was also held with the aim of strengthening local tourism, as a result of its reopening next month.
According to the specialist, "the exchange between the branches and entities of Mintur with the economic forms that provide them with products and services, will guarantee a recovery of the economic development and at the same time will strengthen the potential of our culture, idiosyncrasy, nature and traditions of Las Tunas in the face of the international market".
At the request of the Mintur Delegation here, also in attendance were executives of the hotel network of the northern zone of the neighboring province of Holguin, a pole in which the presence of vacationers from Las Tunas has grown in the last year. One of its representatives, Eliezer Carcasés, who is head of Procurement of the Brisas Guardalavaca hotel, said that the meeting was a satisfactory dispatch with suppliers from Las Tunas. "We already made a first approach with some forms of management, because among their offers stand out high quality products and proven safety, which are not very common in the Holguin territory and today are produced here on a large scale," he said.
Local producers expressed their satisfaction for taking part in the Round, with headquarters in the Theme Park. In dialogue with Rosmagnis Pupo, who belongs to the cooperative Cuba Va, from the municipality of Majibacoa, he stressed that "it is an important opportunity, since it allows us to show our products, which have a marked acceptance in different activities of the domestic market, to potential customers. These meetings are much needed for us to be able to show our potential and increase alliances for the sake of productive chaining", he reiterated.
Miguel Abreu Larramendi, director of the business unit Tecnoazúcar Las Tunas, highlighted the relevance of oxygenating the main economic links in pursuit of the province's progress. "For entrepreneurship, in particular, it is important because we are much stronger when we interrelate. There are times when we have limitations and we find the solution in another economic actor and we can learn about that in events like these. In the productive chaining we have already experimented with numerous entities and, undoubtedly, this has had a considerable impact on a greater improvement for the development of Las Tunas", he emphasized.
Luis D. Rodríguez, manager of Génesis Multiservicios, an enterprise in the transport services sector that sealed an eventual link with Empresa Pesquera de Las Tunas to distribute the products it offers through the digital platform, expressed himself in similar terms.
The same opinion was expressed by Antonio Brizuela Bernardo, owner of what is already a true multipurpose project of electric motorcycle repair and delivery services Alamano. "These spaces are fundamental to make ourselves known," he said, after adding that they are considering the possibility of becoming suppliers of vehicles for tourists' city tours.
During the closing ceremony, prizes were awarded in different categories. Tecnoazúcar stood out as the one with the best quality in the stand; for its effectiveness and the highest number of letters of intent signed, Campismo Popular; Cultura, for the quality of its services. While Mercasa, with Argel Fundora as leader, received the award for the most popular and for its successful presence in the market, with the highest number of signed contracts, letters of intent and exchange of contacts with other economic actors in Las Tunas and Holguin.
In the summary session of this Business Round, party and governmental representatives of the territory recognized the value of the event and made the launching of the fair of idle products to be held next October 28 in the Theme Park itself. It was also announced that other business rounds will take place in the different municipalities of Las Tunas and at the provincial level, with the challenge of increasing the quality of each stand and, at the same time, consolidate these appointments as the main commercial exchange of the Balcony of Western Cuba.
