Las Tunas, Cuba.- The highest political authority in the province went in the early hours of the morning to the Electoral College 1 of District 5, in the classrooms of the José Sacramento basic secondary school, to assert his citizen right regarding the referendum on the new Family Code.

“This is an important day for every Cuban, he said. Every vote counts and the motivations are aimed at achieving a Code that establishes more rights for Cuban families, is closer to their individualities, and protects the most vulnerable. It emphasizes the rights of children, the elderly, and women; no one is excluded.”

On the day, more than 400 thousand voters are summoned in the province; 18 thousand young people will do it for the first time.

Martha Rodríguez Martínez, president of the Provincial Electoral Council, shared with the press that to guarantee the process, 1,266 polling stations were set up, including five special ones.

More than seven thousand 500 pioneers guard the polls in the frank representation of the most genuine and transparent of the Cuban electoral system.
