Combatants against the Bay of Pigs invasion

The Provincial Directorate of the Association of Combatants of the Cuban Revolution (ACRC) conveys sincere congratulations to the Girón combatants and their families, in the context of the 60th anniversary of the first great military defeat of the Yankee imperialism in Latin America.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- The recognition underscores that the triumph of April 19, 1961, in an unequal confrontation on the sands of Playa Girón, demonstrated the courage and patriotism of the people, under the leadership of Fidel and Raúl, who constitute models for the new generations.

It points out that, given the current complex scenario imposed by the COVID-19 and the tightening of the United States blockade against Cuba, the main mission is to implement the decisions of the Cuban Communist Party (PCC) and the Government in a disciplined way, with an emphasis on the fight to stop the spread of the new coronavirus and save lives.

At the same time, it expresses that "when we remember the date, we are filled by infinite respect and gratitude for the Cubans who fell in this feat, especially for Eusebio Rafael Izquierdo Ramírez and Heriberto Cortés Iglesias, from Las Tunas."
