With a wide reception by the public, the first Electronic Commerce Fair was held, aimed at providing technological tools and advice to assume the process of banking operations. The initiative was completely free and was carried out in all the municipalities of Las Tunas geography.
Las Tunas, Cuba.- The download and update of mobile applications such as Transfermóvil and Enzona, the configuration of payment gateways, and timely training for people of different ages occupied the spaces of the Las Tunas Digital Citizen Innovation Laboratory.
Specialists from the Union of Cuban Computer Scientists (UIC) in Las Tunas, the Cuban Telecommunications Company (ETECSA), the Computer Applications Company (DESOFT), the Computer and Electronics Youth Club, and the Defense Information Technology Company, known as XETID, responded to the population's demand for information on the digital transformation actions being undertaken in Cuba.
Similarly, the Popular Savings (BPA) and the Commerce and Credit (BANDEC) banks played a fundamental role in removing doubts and accelerating the installation of several payment channels.
Dayalé Torres Diéguez, director of the Innovation Laboratories for the Digital Transformation of the Culture Collaborative Project (CoLab), told the Cuban News Agency that in the current context of bank restructuring, citizens have been receptive and eager to receive advice on how to face the process.
Meanwhile, greater articulation and training are needed between the entities, decision-makers, and service personnel involved in the promotion and generalization of banking measures, as is the case in retail trade and other sectors, the expert pointed out.
This first experience was described by the organizing group as positive and profitable, a reason to think about organizing a second E-commerce Fair that will also have the presence of economic actors.
The Co-Lab project, co-financed by the European Union and led by the UIC, is an open-door opportunity for citizens in the interest of economic and social growth within the scenario of digital transformation that the country is promoting.
