Cuban baseball manager Pablo Civil

After six seasons in charge of the Lumberjacks and being a direct protagonist in the most winning cycle in the history of baseball in Las Tunas, Pablo Alberto Civil says goodbye to the command post of the green and red ship.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- The provincial commissioner of this sport, José Luis Rodríguez, confirmed the news on Thursday. "Pablo (Civil) met us and officially informed us that he is no longer the team manager," announced.

Civil had taken the reins of the Las Tunas team over the last five years, a period in which the best results of all time were achieved in this province. To the subtitle of the 2017-2018 season, the pilot born in Puerto Padre added the crown of 2018-2019, the second place in the 2019 Caribbean Series, and a couple of consecutive third places in the following years. In the last campaign, Las Tunas finished in fifth place and was left off the podium for the first time in the lustrum.

The former outfielder of the Las Tunas and Orientales squads had made his debut in the 50th National Series, an experience that was cut short when he was removed from his position in the middle of the competition after an incident with referee Elber Ibarra. Seven years later, his return was a fundamental piece in the gear that started a machine full of talent that only needed certain adjustments.

The Lumberjacks are getting ready to begin their preparation for the upcoming season, whose start is scheduled for the end of March, so the appointment of a new director will be announced in the coming days.
