The support of the province of Las Tunas for the recovery of Unit 2 of the Lidio Ramón Pérez thermoelectric plant, in Felton, Holguín, was one of the issues of economic interest evaluated on Thursday by Vice Prime Minister Ramiro Valdés Menéndez.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- The Commander of the Revolution learned how the actions carried out in the Francisco (Paco) Cabrera Metal Structures Company, commercially known as METUNAS, are fulfilled, to guarantee part of the required elements in the readiness of the installation, damaged by a fire in July 2022.

Valdés Menéndez asked about the availability of the raw material and the advances in the technical review of the offers received, besides the quality of those resources, essential for the optimal operation of the power generation plant.

He was also updated on the development strategy of the ACINOX Las Tunas Company, whose directors reported on investments, relations with entities in the iron and steel industry in various countries, and the possible use of tailings (residues from production processes) and other minerals for the manufacture of different types of steel.

Finally, he met with members of the Provincial Energy Council, whom he urged to ensure the efficient use of electricity and stressed the role of mass organizations in the residential sector.
