Las Tunas, Cuba.- The province, with more than 10,000 pending cases for damages on the housing stock due to weather phenomena, has considered the construction of more than 44,000 homes, including new buildings and restorations for the next 10 years; and there is a plan of 2,679 for 2019.
Manuel Tomás Vázquez Enrique, head of the National Group of Production of Construction Materials, urged the authorities to achieve a greater imbrication among the organizations in order to raise the manufacturing, of not only blocks and aggregates, but to attain the execution of the complete module for homes.
"In Las Tunas, there are objective conditions to increase production levels, but the quality of the merchandise that arrives at the stores cannot be neglected; and the principle of exposing and selling to the population only what can be used must be maintained, said Vázquez Enrique.
The leader called for the use of clay in the construction dynamics, in order to make a better use of cement. To this end, the possibility of rescuing the modality of vault ceilings was also posed, always complying with established technical standards.
Among the municipalities, "Amancio" highlighted, thanks to its strategy of correcting the mistakes and transforming them. Manatí was the only one categorized as bad for its performance, although in some territories like Jobabo serious problems were detected in the quality of the processes.
Lilian González Rodríguez, president of the Provincial Assembly of People's Power, called to a better control and effective integration, so that the managers of different agencies know the real dilemmas and limitations in each locality.
During the tour through the Las Tunas, the basic concepts of the Program were recapitulated to remind all those involved in this challenge that their mission obeys to the growing needs of the population, with respect to the insufficient housing fund, and therefore it is a priority task.
The 2018 housing construction plan fin Las tunas amounts to 727 houses, of which 565 completed. There are15 new workshops for the manufacture of construction materials in different communities, conceived as mini-industries. The strategy aims at taking advantage of local resources: clay and everything that contribute for the families to have new homes.
