El Nicho Natural Park.

With the arrival of the summer months, many national and foreign vacationers today enjoy nature tourism and visit Nicho Natural Park, in the Guamuhaya Mountain Massif, in the center of Cuba.

Cienfuegos, Cuba.- The change of atmosphere is felt for the first time when you pass Centro Cubano, home of the “Theater of the Elements”. Then you must continue and arriving at Crucesitas you feel another change. From there up, before arriving at Nicho Natural Park, you may have to decompress a couple of times.

There the exuberant nature of Cuba, and the Escambray, overwhelms you and makes you feel insignificant. Centuries-old trees, trails traveled before by muleteers, and wild animals are today a route for tourists and nature lovers.

The pure water of the mountain rivers is always cold, when it does not rain it is clear as a mirror and when the rains fall it runs down the slopes and form new waterfalls.

The trees on the tourist route have their names on wooden boards from the area and at every certain distance there are garbage collectors made of the same materials, in this case, Yagua royal palm. The tour guides always explain that the waste must be deposited there and not on the road.

From time to time, you come across visitors who come from the waterfalls or some pool.

The Nicho Natural Park, nestled in the mountains of the central Cuban province of Cienfuegos, is one of those places where one must go to enjoy nature in all its splendor, far from the bustle of cities, cars, factories, and modernity.

The cafeteria and organic restaurant offerings are simple, but excellently prepared and attractively priced, with traditional foods and some national and international drinks. During lunch, you can enjoy live Cuban music performed by local artists.

Now, in these hot summer months in Cuba, visiting El Nicho is a good recreational option to enjoy a pleasant space in contact with nature. (PL)
