Las Tunas celebrates 63rd anniversary of the CDR.

Men and women of Las Tunas who have given the best of their efforts to the development of their communities were recognized with the 28 de Septiembre Distinction (September 28), the highest award given by the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR in Spanish).

Las Tunas, Cuba.- During the ceremony of the municipality of Las Tunas for the 63rd anniversary of the largest mass organization in the country, the neighbors of Circumscription 111, Zone 147 of the Popular Council 18, in the Camilo Cienfuegos neighborhood, responded to the call to consolidate the defense of the neighborhood and accompanied the award winners in such an important moment.

The CDR awards oustanding members.Those who were honored in one of the most popular areas of this neighborhood have dedicated a good part of their lives to the tasks of their communities, and are distinguished for being young people in their twenties or young or old adults because age does not matter when it comes to defending the Revolution from every little piece.

Another group of CDR members also received the National Vanguard Condition of the CDR for their outstanding work, while grassroots organizations from blocks and areas of the capital municipality were also recognized with this award, as part of the activities for the new birthday of the organization and the 10th Congress, which concludes today in Havana.

The Committees were created by Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro on September 28, 1960. Among its objectives is to mobilize all the people in the tasks of defending the homeland and the achievements of socialism, through direct work with individuals and families in the community.
