Las Tunas.- The Ludema furniture industry, in this eastern city, finished the first proposals of design for the manufacture of wooden toys with didactic purposes, whose production will begin when its approval at national level ends.

The workers of this entity, belonging to the Dujo Company, responded to a request by the Commander of the Revolution Ramiro Valdés, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Cuba and vice-president of the Councils of State and Ministers, during a visit to Las Tunas last July.
The importance of making attractive toys in Cuba aimed at developing the logical thinking of children - from 1 to 3 and 3 to 6 years old - was an approach made at the 9th Ordinary Session of the National Assembly of People's Power.
More than 40 variants of design were delivered, including those related to national symbols such as the royal palm, the tocororo and the Cuban flag, with separable pieces, with the aim of contributing to the development of intelligence, psyche and logical thinking.
The proposals also include a selection of the national fauna, made into a rocking chair or means of transportation, such as the crocodile, zunzun, horse and rooster, as well as geometric, shapes and color puzzles, among others.
The serial production of wooden toys in Ludema requires of resources for this specialty of carpentry, including painting, the architect Carmen Peña, a specialist in design of the entity, told the Cuban News Agency.
Ariel Barbán and Yandy Rodríguez, two young graduates of the Highest Institute of Industrial Design, were responsible for making viable the idea and explained that before undertaking their task they investigated through the Internet the last types of wooden toys manufactured in the world.
Both professionals also received suggestions from specialists of the Directorate of Education in the province, and explain that the variants to produce figures of entertainment and teaching for children are endless.
Assuming this responsibility is challenge and a pride for the Ludema group, which was chosen precisely because the prestige achieved during 40 years producing high quality furniture, destined mainly for tourism facilities.
The last mission of great magnitude carried out by Ludema workers was the manufacture of the pieces to furnish the different areas of the luxurious Grand Manzana Kempinski Hotel, in Havana.
