Journalistic Guild Honors the Deceased Colleagues

Activities to mark the Cuban Press Day began on Sunday in this province with pilgrimages to the cemeteries of the cities of Las Tunas and Puerto Padre, to pay tribute to deceased journalists.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- It is a tradition of the members of Union of Journalists of Cuba (UPEC) and other workers in the sector to carrying out these processions, with the assistance of relatives of colleagues buried in both necropolises.
Beside the deceased colleagues of 26 Newspaper, correspondents of the Cuban News Agency, the Cuban Television and Radio Libertad, the guild remembered Antonio Moltó, president of the UPEC in the current mandate, who will also be honored in the X Congress of the organization.
The journalists from Las Tunas also remembered the renowned journalist Isabel Moya, director of the Editorial of Women and the Mujeres magazine, and winner of the Prize for Dignity, who died on Sunday.
Affiliates to the UPEC in the province will hold meetings with political and mass organizations, the Government and various agencies, and will develop professional exchanges, among other activities.
