Las Tunas, Cuba.- Both in the sugarcane fields as in the Majibacoa, Antonio Guiteras, Amancio Rodríguez and Colombia sugar mills, there is great enthusiasm to accomplish this purpose as a greeting to May Day; and then to speed up the productive processes to fulfill the plan before the arrival of the rains.
Despite the excess of humidity in the fields, generated by the inclement weather, the workers of the main economic sector of Las Tunas have already completed the 50 percent of the goal proposed to mark the World Proletariat Day.
The territory had the largest volume of sugar planned in the 2017/2018 harvest -about 200,000 tons-, but after the long period of continuous rainfall during the whole January and a few days in February, the country decided to reduce it, so that it could objectively be fulfilled.
Manufacturing more than 140,000 tons is the new commitment of the province, and what they have accumulated to date, represents a 95 percent of compliance, with highlight for the "Majibacoa" - above the program-, which it is ratified as the most efficient sugar mill of the province in recent years.
The Antonio Guiteras Colossus, which has produced the 97 percent of the amount planned, follows the steps of the youngest of Las Tunas sugar mills - inaugurated in 1986-; while "Colombia" and "Amancio Rodríguez" are lagging behind.
