Puerto Padre is preparing to host a major event in the martial arts world. On October 3, the city will host the Cuba-Mexico Shotokan Karate-Do Grand Cup, bringing together practitioners from both countries for a celebration of sport and culture.
Puerto Padre, Las Tunas.- The event will begin at 8:00 a.m. with the inauguration of the dojo, located in the area where taekwondo was previously practiced, in front of the Hermanos Ameijeiras Stadium. Afterward, the competition will move to Independence Park (Parque de la Independencia), where athletes will test their skills across various Shotokan categories, showcasing their technique, discipline, and competitive spirit.
The tournament will be organized and led by Master Salvador Pérez Quevedo—a ninth-degree black belt and president of the World Shotokan Ryu Karate-Do Union. His experience and leadership ensure the success of this Cup, which promises to become a benchmark for karate in the region.
The Cuba-Mexico Shotokan Karate-Do Martial Arts Grand Cup will be a true celebration of combat sports, aiming to strengthen the bonds of brotherhood between Cuba and Mexico, promote karate values —respect, discipline, effort, and humility— and offer a high-level spectacle for fans to enjoy.
Under the motto "With everyone and for the good of all," the event promises to be a space for connection, learning, and celebration for martial arts enthusiasts and the general public alike.
