According to the various people with whom 26 spoke on his most recent trip to La Boca Beach, careful planning has been key to ensuring that, amid the extremely complex daily life the country is experiencing, the summer season behaves favorably.
Las Tunas, Cuba.- Because, while it's true that resources are far from what they'd been in other years, it's evident that the support, follow-up, and timely decisions have borne fruit.
We were told that the first glimpses of this truth were noticeable as the teachers' recess week approached (last April) and the barges were put into operation, allowing hundreds of people to travel during the holiday, something extremely beneficial that had never been possible before in the province.

That has made the work of Anilberto Labrada Espinosa, director of the Beach Accommodation Insurance, Services, and Transportation Unit, less difficult over the past few months. He tells us about approximately 1,032 clients who stay at these facilities during each rotation in the area corresponding to the municipality of Puerto Padre, and another 200 in the case of La Herradura, the flagship beach resort of the "Jesús Menéndez" municipality.
“The main complaints in our establishments so far are about prices, because much of the cuisine is self-service. This causes the price increases, but they are not excessive. Some dishes can range between 500.00 and 600.00 pesos (shrimp, fish, lamb), but we also have cheaper options, including ham, minced meats, and other sausages.”
The water supply has been guaranteed, although with some irregularities. “The service is contracted through our Transportation colleagues, and due to some broken tank trucks, unfortunately, we have had problems that have been resolved with the support of all of them.”
The beach is protected during the summer amidst the complex panorama of power outages. But the overconsumption has caused damage to transformers, line breaks, automatic disconnections of some circuits, and similar problems. Some facilities have even been left without electricity for 24 hours.
The increased consumption is significant. We're talking about 102 homes in La Boca and around 46 in El Socucho that, during the summer, become between 500 and 400 on each side. Plus, kiosks, refrigerators, and everything else that's part of this combination of electricity consumption and summer.
For self-management, which guarantees many resources, Anilberto and his team have the equipment, transportation, and financial feasibility to search for and deliver the products to their destination.

"We've had difficulties with breakfasts, but partnerships with the non-state sector now open the door for us to acquire crackers and bread." Although we have a processing center here on the beach, it hasn't been able to produce much for reasons related to a lack of flour and other resources."
The inspectors are also doing their part. We saw them while touring part of the coastline, which wasn't so crowded that day. But, residents told us it gets crowded during the weekend and even more so during the first half of August, when it traditionally sees the highest number of visitors.
We were assured that several fines have been issued, and that some violations are repeated, such as health regulations, the origin of products, or being located in unauthorized places; as well as excessive rental prices for tents, chairs, tables, and sun loungers.

The beach isn't as dirty as other seasons. Specialists at the medical post say that after an unfortunate incident, which left one person dead and another injured at the opening of the season, they haven't had any major setbacks. Most of the disputes that end in fights are associated with the consumption of alcoholic beverages, and very especially, they appeal to the family because very young faces stand out the most in this regard.
This is how summer is going in the popular resort, setting the pace on a constant path, not exempt from the need for improvement.
