2026 José Martí Pioneer Parade.

Under the warm sun of January 28th, the streets of the capital city were transformed into a living canvas of patriotism and joy. On the 173rd anniversary of José Martí's birth, Martí Square and its surroundings vibrated with the traditional Pioneer parade, a tribute for which Cuban children once again reunited with their best friend.

From early morning, the excitement was palpable. The children, dressed in their school uniforms or transformed into the endearing characters from La Edad de Oro (The Golden Age), gathered to bring the Apostle's work to life. Pilar, in her rose shoes, the Black Doll, the intrepid Little Finger, Baby, and even Mr. Pompous walked among the crowd, demonstrating that the best way to preserve the Master's memory is, precisely, to inhabit his writings.

The parade was not just an event for the pioneers; it was a gathering of love that brought together parents and teachers. The teachers, with affectionate gazes, guided their students on this journey of civic pride. More than a march, the day became an open-air classroom where respect and a deep connection were cultivated between the present generations and Martí's enduring legacy.

As the procession moved forward, children's laughter and voices echoed in the air, singing songs and reciting the Simple Verses. It was a choreography of innocence and commitment; a reminder that the Apostle's ideals of freedom and education continue to beat in the heart of every Cuban.

Despite the challenges facing the nation, the parade in Las Tunas stood as a celebration of happiness and sovereignty. The young pioneers of Las Tunas displayed their resilient spirit and that genuine joy that Martí so fervently championed.

This January 28th, the sun shone not only in the sky, but also in the eyes of each child who, in their costumes and with their flowers, told the Teacher that his "Golden Age" lives on. At the end of the journey, the certainty remained that Martí is not a static figure in marble, but a companion on the path who today, once again, marched alongside his "little princes."
