Las Tunas defeated Ciego de Ávila on Friday in the National Indoor Soccer League

With much better luck for the goal than on Thursday, the Las Tunas squad thrashed Sancti Spíritus 7-3 and momentarily rose to second place in Group C of the National Indoor Soccer League.

One day after a costly draw 1x1 greatly complicated their chances of advancing to the next phase, Las Tunas imposed their law on the Leonardo McKenzie Grant Sports Hall. The locals had goals by Edilmar Borrego, Jesús A. Pérez, Juan Andreus, and Levys Torres in the first half; while in the complementary period, they consolidated their dominance with scores by Darío Pons, Juan Carlos Nápoles, and an own goal from Josué Gutiérrez.

The players from Sancti Spiritus, who arrived in Las Tunas already eliminated, scored through Yoanny Ríos (2) and Silvio Quiñones, but they did not have the physical strength to compete in the second half.

Their fourth success in the qualifying stage leaves Las Tunas with identical numbers in the departments of victories, draws, and defeats, for a total of 16 units that place them in second place, behind Ciego de Ávila and a point above Camagüey.

In the other game of key C, the Camagüey team was very close to securing their advance to the next phase, but they could not maintain the minimum 1-0 advantage they had for most of the match. The equalizer of the Ciego de Ávila team at the end left Camagüey with 15 units, forced to win this Saturday in the last match of the calendar.
