Las Tunas advanced in the Cuban Baseball Champion Clubs Tournament

With a double blow of 5x2 and 6x2 victories, the Las Tunas Panthers left the Camagüey Princes on the road in their return to the baseball calendar of the Champion Clubs Tournament, after a period of inactivity of 15 years.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- In the first duel, Las Tunas managed to create a three-run rally in the sixth inning, with just one hit, to get the initial smile. Problems in the control of Guillermo Pérez and mistakes in defensive actions condemned their rivals in the final stages of the match.

The starter pitcher Yordey Fuentes was supported by the performance of Yasel Labrada to minimize the difficulties of the visit. Fuentes went through five innings of two earned runs, six hits, three walks, and four strikeouts. However, the success took root in Labrada's roadmap, who retired the four batters he faced, two of them via strikes.

From the “pentagon,” the hosts Yunior Josué Otero (3-2/ 2 W/ SR), Yaser Izaguirre (2-2/ W/ 2 SRs) and Pedro Perdomo (3-1/ 2 RBIs) stood out, while for the “nobility” from the neighboring territory Alexander Ayala (3-2) took the lead.

In the second game, Leandro Cañada made himself noticed again to make it clear that the no-hit no-run achieved in the provincial championship was not for chance. Cañada, the winner of the match, compiled zeros for five innings, where he allowed three hits and only five rivals touched base. Relievers Leosdanis Sánchez and Andier Reyes directed the posthumous outs that would provide the ticket to the next phase.

The errors, both in defense and in the running of the bases, buried the team from Camagüey. For its part, the offensive of the players from the Cuban Eastern Balcony showed efficient productivity by making the most of the opponents' fissures.
