Las Tunas, Cuba.- A tournament held at the entrance of the centrally located Cadillac Hotel, which sponsored the competition, was the main activity here to mark the date dedicated to the so-called science game on a global scale.
Furthermore, in the also emblematic José Martí Plaza, a game once played by our National Hero, José Martí, was reproduced on a wall board. Meanwhile, a school tournament was held at the Tunas Theater, as a prelude to the screening of the film Capablanca.
In recent months, chess has experienced a clear revitalization on the Balcón de Oriente (Eastern Cuban Balcony), thanks to the schedule of competitions at the Academy, in the provincial capital, as well as the promotion of this sport in other municipalities, such as Puerto Padre and “Amancio.”
