Under the command of the mentor from Las Tunas, Pablo Alberto Civil, the Cuba baseball team traveled today to Willemstad, capital of Curaçao, where it will face the local team this Saturday on the first date of the 3rd Caribbean Cup.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- According to JIT Digital, complex logistical and immigration procedures left the number of athletes in the team at 23. The shortstop from Cienfuegos, Luis Vicente Mateo, was the athlete who left the team at the last minute.

The squad made up of three receivers, six infielders, four outfielders, and ten pitchers will debut at 8:00 on Saturday night against Curaçao and then face the U.S. Virgin Islands (day 27) and Peru (28). After the rest day of June 29, Cuba will have the same rivals on July 30 (CUW), July 1 (VIR), and July 2 (PER), before contesting the medals in third vs. fourth matches for bronze and the best two for the gold.

The third edition of the Caribbean Cup will be dedicated to the recently deceased president of the Cuban Baseball Federation, Higinio Vélez Carrión.
