Jorge Luis Tapia analized preparations for harves at the Antonio Guiteras sugar millPuerto Padre, Las Tunas.- In an analysis of the different spheres immersed in the sugarcane campaign, the contribution of the railway sector stood out, which assumes the task of moving a large part of the raw material toward the sugar mill. For this reason, 110 freight wagons are added to the transport fleet, while the total of these vehicles reaches 240.

Some 65 trucks are ready, but the availability of tires and batteries supports the repair of the rest to guarantee one hundred percent. Some 78 “road giants” will move the sugarcane, together with 70 trailers.

Tapia Fonseca directed the debate toward the field of exchange with the producers, to learn about their concerns and interests. Likewise, he learned of the various deficiencies in the productive mechanisms, in several cases due to bad administrative management, inefficient communication, and the scarce directives approach to the furrow.

In the same way, the purpose of achieving food sovereignty came to the meeting, hence the need to revive the sense of belonging of those involved, besides changing the justifying mentality to achieve better yields.

At approximately 6:40 pm, at the end of his tour, the vice prime minister arrived at the “Colossus of Delicias.” He was interested in the details of the upcoming harvest and the industry's capacity to generate electricity. He visited the bagasse house, the electricity plant, and the mills.

Tapia Fonseca called to make an efficient sugar harvest in the province. Before the microphones of the Radio Libertad station, he said: "We ask the workers of the Sugar Industry of the province to start a harvest as the economy of the country needs; that is what we ask of them... that commitment to make an efficient and quality harvest. In the next few hours, the sugar mill will start up, this is the one that has to produce the most sugar in the country, they assume this great commitment.”
