Three Cuban athletes contributed to the win of the Americas team in the 3rd IAAF Continental Cup, based in Ostrava, Czech Republic.

Havana, Cuba.- The athletes from the American continent, who had won in the first edition in Split (Croatia) in 2010, headed the contest with 262 points and were followed by the representatives of Europe (233), the Asia-Pacific squad (188) and Africa (142).
The European side lost the supremacy they conquered in Marrakech (Morocco), in 2014.
Cubans Yaimé Pérez, Yarisley Silva and Cristian Nápoles contributed with eight, five and four points, respectively, to the victory of the winning team.
Discus thrower Pérez, recent winner of the final event in the Diamond League last August 31, beat her toughest rival in the world, Croatian Sandra Perkovic, who despite scoring the longest shot of the event (68.44 m) committed foul in her last attempt while Perez achieved her event best (65.30) and due to the sui generis type of this competition emerged winner.
On the other hand, Silva, London 2012 Olympic runner-up and Beijing 2015 world monarch, finished fourth in the women's pole vault with discreet mark of 4.55 m.
Finally, Nápoles, gold medalist in the Central American and Caribbean Games of Barranquilla 2018, in Colombia, scored 17.07 meters in his second attempt and ranked fifth in the men's triple jump, according to IAAF official website. (acn)
