Win by Osley Iglesias and losses to Julio Cesar La Cruz and Erislandy Savon marked the Cuban performance in the promotional match of the 9th World Series of Boxing (WSB) held in Moscow, Russia.
The four-time world champion Julio César La Cruz (81 kg) heads the trio of boxers of the Cuba Domadores team that will depart today to Moscow to attend the promotional match of the 9th World Series of Boxing (WSB).
Havana, Cuba.- La Cruz, captain of the Cuban franchise, will be accompanied by cruiser world monarch Erislandy Savón and middleweight Osley Iglesias, Alberto Puig, president of the Cuban Boxing Federation, told ACN.
In the event, based in Russia, the three Cubans will join athletes from Thailand, Uzbekistan, Armenia and Ireland to face the local side of the Russia Patriots in a match set to the eight divisions approved for the coming WSB (52, 57, 63, 69, 75, 81, 91 and +91 kilos).
The match will be attended by several of the best boxers in the world, who will also participate in the 2019 World Championships to be held in the Russian city of Sochi, and in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, the Cuban official added. (acn)
