This city in eastern Cuba ended August 13th with a renewed face. On a day laden with symbolism, commemorating Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz’s centenary, several social works were inaugurated and reopened, demonstrating the development and continuity of his legacy in this region.

Las Tunas, Cuba.– The tour was led by Osbel Lorenzo Rodríguez, first secretary of the Provincial Committee of the Cuban Communist Party (PCC) in Las Tunas; and Yelenys Tornet Menéndez, Governor of the province, who, along with other leaders from related sectors and authorities from the capital city, inspected the facilities now open to the public.

A hardware store opened its doors on the central Lucas Ortiz Street, the result of a cooperative effort between the state and non-state sectors, a demonstration of the new forms of economic management being promoted in the country. Additionally, a purified water sales point was inaugurated in Building 1 on 50th Street in the La Loma neighborhood, a service in high demand by residents.

Another renovated space is the Ramiro Santiago Carpentry Workshop. The repair process at this facility allows it to diversify and increase its production lines to contribute to meeting the needs of the population.

The renovation reached facilities in the tourism and gastronomy sector. The La Serrana restaurant and the Palmares Casa Piedra establishment were renovated, spaces that contribute to the beautification of the city and the range of services offered to residents and visitors.

The day included a visit to the Los Galanos neighborhood, which is undergoing significant transformation, where important improvement and beautification projects have been carried out. These investments are part of a comprehensive program aimed at raising the quality of life for residents in the most disadvantaged communities of the main municipality.
