the Municipal Administration Council decided to cap the prices of some products

After an exhaustive analysis of the Price Agreement Committees and intending to organize the marketing process of agricultural products in the municipality of Las Tunas, the Municipal Administration Council decided to cap the prices of some products and ensure their compliance.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- To protect the purchasing power of the population, a price of 12.00 pesos, as the maximum, per pound of plantain was established, and the current price of 7.00 per pound of chunky banana is maintained. Likewise, at 8.00 for sweet potatoes, 7.00 for cassava, 6.00 for pumpkin, 10.00 for lettuce, 30.00 for tomato, and 20.00 for a pound of cabbage.

During a previous meeting with the main economic actors linked to the activity in the territory, Manuel Pérez Gallego, member of the Central Committee and first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba in the province, advocated promoting better development of the marketing process of agricultural products, without the tariffs ceasing to be profitable for those who produce, nor becoming abusive for consumers.

Pérez Gallego emphasized that disorganization in commercial activity will not be allowed and warned that the inspection bodies will be in charge of ensuring compliance with the approved prices.
