In the context of strongly fighting against the COVID-19 and eliminating the threat that it constitutes for the people of Las Tunas, despite the current stability of our epidemiological panorama, the factory of latex articles increases its work with the aim of producing 200 thousand pairs of household gloves in May, destined to support the cleaning of the institutions of the Ministry of Public Health.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- Osiris Hernández and Milaidis García, managers of the center, comment that the production plan in 2020 is more than two million pairs, of which more than 430 thousand were manufactured in the first quarter and 85,860 in April.

This factory, the only one of its kind in Cuba, belonging to the Thaba Company, already has all the resources to respond to current health demands and those of the next four months. It workers, in tune with the current circumstances, have the commitment to contribute in the fight against the coronavirus.

The production tasks resumed in April after having been paralyzed due to the lack of some essential components for their industrial process, specifically to fix the pigment and guarantee a correct finish, with optimum quality.

The unit, supported by obsolete Italian technology, owes its stability to the movement of innovators, who recovered a water cooling equipment, made an adaptation to the mold release system and activated an area of classifiers to preserve the latex mixture.

In its beginnings, in the 90s of the last century, surgical gloves were manufactured at the plant, but the country decided to import them and leave it only to process those for domestic use.
