The Colectivo Victoria Distinction, awarded by the National Union of Industries, was received by the Comandante Francisco (Paco) Cabrera Metal Structures Company (METUNAS), from Las Tunas, for its outstanding performance in favor of the country’s development and economy.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- To proceed with this recognition, the dedication of professionals and other workers to responsibly assume the 46 measures approved to improve the Socialist State Enterprise was taken into account.

The repair of structures damaged by a fire at the Lidio Ramón Pérez (Felton) Thermoelectric in Holguín, as well as the manufacture of poles for the distribution of high-voltage electricity, thus replacing imports, also stand out.

In the Mariel Special Development Zone (ZEDM), the Francisco Cabrera plant has had a permanent presence, especially in the construction of structures for different projects.

METUNAS, as it is commercially known, is considered the flagship industry of the territory because of its importance and because it was the first large factory in the city, which opened the way for others that followed, such as ACINOX Las Tunas and LUDEMA Furniture.

Over the years, the great iron mass has manufactured traveling cranes, gigantic tanks for the storage of liquids, beams, columns, angles, and galvanized zinc roofs for warehouses and houses..., hence the name "factory of factories.”
