“Jesús Menéndez” remained at zero in the use of the QR codes due to the administrative transformations

The use of QR codes for commercial operations through digital platforms was extended to 90 establishments in the municipality of Jesús Menéndez, which were the most lagging in these practices in the entire province.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- The implementation operates in some 67 warehouses out of the hundred that exist in that northern territory and the rest in various commercial facilities such as markets, cafes, bars, and restaurants in the state and private sector.

Roger Luis Nieves Fournier, communication and marketing specialist at the Business Group of Commerce (GEC) in Las Tunas, told the Cuban News Agency that “Jesús Menéndez” remained at zero in the use of the QR codes due to the administrative transformations of several companies, and the change in their bank accounts.

We also work on contracting the extra cash service, so that we can facilitate the acquisition of cash by natural persons from commercial establishments. It is an activity that is already carried out in the other seven municipalities of the province, Nieves Fournier pointed out.

To reach all the commerce and gastronomy centers in Jesús Menéndez, the GEC intends to install more than 40 two-dimensional barcodes based on the assembly of infrastructures that guarantee the optimal exploitation of these technologies.

In Las Tunas, the process has been going on for almost three years and brings together some 630 food stores, in which the customer benefits with a three percent discount on purchases of the regulated family basket; with thirty still pending to provide these services. The GEC's work is aimed at completing the network by the end of 2023.
