Doraleh Container Terminal management company in Djibouti signed an agreement with Asian shipping company Pacific International Lines (PIL) to increase the cargo transported in the enclave by one third, official sources reported today.

Djibouti.- According to the report of the Port Areas Authority of this country, the agreement is expected to enlarge the performance at the Doraleh Container Terminal, which will allow it to handle an additional 300,000 containers of 20 feet annually.

Last month, Djibouti ended its contract with DP World of Dubai, one of the world's largest port operators, which managed the site.

The Doraleh terminal has a capacity of 1.6 million containers per year.

'This agreement is an important first step towards the fulfillment of the Doraleh Container Terminal with its capacity potential,' the port authority indicated.

PIL is one of the largest shipping companies in Asia, ranked "eleventh among the main container ship operators in the world." (PL)
