Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, accused the United States and Israel of being behind the riots of the last daysIran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, accused the United States and Israel of being behind the riots of the last days in this nation.

Tehran.- He stressed that the protests were premeditated and that if it had not been for the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini, the enemies would have created another excuse to generate insecurity and riots in Iran.

The Ayatollah pointed out that the most harmed in the recent incidents were the Police, the People’s Resistance Force of Iran (Basich), and many citizens, but, he said, "the Iranian nation appeared strong… wherever the enemies seek to create riots, the brave and faithful nation of Iran will be the most protective."

He further criticized the support offered by Western countries to the protesters and questioned that the United States has never made statements when riots occur in countries in Europe or its nation.

The designs and actions of the enemies show their innermost nature, Khamenei emphasized, they make statements that they do not intend to invade Iran or change the system, while they plot and incite violence.

In the last week, the Persian nation experienced riots, demonstrations, and attacks, allegedly in protest against the death of Amini, who died after being detained in a police station for improper use of the hijab (compulsory veil for women in the country). (PL)
