exican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador insisted on the need to integrate the Americas

Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador on Friday insisted on the need to integrate the Americas without discriminating against anyone and respecting national sovereignty.

Mexico.- At his morning press conference from Veracruz, the president made such a statement when answering a question about the upcoming summit of the Pacific Alliance in Lima, Peru, on December 14.

He said that the purpose of the meeting of all four presidents of the member countries: Peru, Colombia, Chile, and Mexico, is to sign agreements of the alliance, and confirmed that Ecuador will join the mechanism.

He explained that it is, basically, a free trade agreement, I’m holding the presidency now and I am going to hand it over to Peruvian President Pedro Castillo, to whom it corresponds, but he was forbidden to leave the country.

Lopez Obrador noted that he plans to travel later to Colombia to meet with President Gustavo Petro, but not now, due to the North Summit with Presidents Joe Biden, from the United States, and Justin Trudeau, from Canada, to deal with the tripartite free trade agreement (T-MEC) and bilateral agreements, will be held on December 9 and 10.

He revealed that at the North Summit, he will talk about the integration of the Americas as a whole because it has been proven that this helps us, but always with respect for our sovereignty. (PL)
