Strong tornado hit north of Miami on Saturday

About 13 thousand customers are without electricity today in Florida due to the damage caused by a tornado whose winds hit north of Miami, according to the PowerOutage.us site that tracks outages in the United States.

Washington.- Damage is widespread in Palm Beach Gardens areas where residents were forced to seek shelter as a result of the strong winds that hit the region the day before, The New York Times reported.

The newspaper also noted that the United States records more than one thousand tornadoes a year, more than any other country in the world, as its geography and climate make it particularly susceptible.

The deadliest of these phenomena that took place in recent years occurred in 2011, when a storm swept through Joplin, Missouri, killing more than 150 people.

Last month, a tornado in rural Mississippi devastated mobile homes and left at least two dozen deaths. (PL)
