Argentine Vice President, Cristina Fernández, led the act to mark Néstor Kirchner President inauguration's 20th anniversary

The ceremony held on Thursday at Plaza de Mayo in Buenos Aires confirmed the leadership of the Argentine Vice President, Cristina Fernandez, analyst Luis Bruschtein highlighted today.

Buenos Aires.- In an article published in Página 12 newspaper, Bruschtein underlined the importance of the initiative to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the arrival of Nestor Kirchner (1950-2010) to the Casa Rosada, which mobilized thousands of people despite the rain.

Likewise, he considered that the demonstration ratified that the movement which emerged after Kirchner’s victory in 2003 is an identity fused with Peronism (followers of former President Juan Domingo Perón and his wife Evita); however, it transcends it as well as the current situation.

According to Bruschtein, those who believed that Kirchnerism was dying out and that the figure of the former Head of State was in decline due to the strong judicial persecution and the assassination attempt against her were mistaken. The opponents had said the Kirchneristas’ tide had weakened in the face of a moderate Peronism in the provinces, but triumphant governors themselves refuted such a view.

Beyond their personal positions, the Kirchnerist governments were embedded in the historical experience of their people.

The grassroots see them as one more element adhering to their identity, he pointed out.

The journalist affirmed that, due to the economic situation and the proscription of Fernández, the general elections of October 22 will be a difficult test for the Frente de Todos.

However, he considered that there is no other force within Peronism and no other motive capable of gathering the crowd that arrived at Plaza de Mayo. (PL)
