ALBA-TCP member states rejected and condemned the announcement of the U.S. State Department, which they considered a direct threat against the sovereignty and political and economic stability of Venezuela.

Caracas.- Washington is the most responsible for human rights violations in the world, as well as for the darkest processes of political destabilization in our region, the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-People’s Trade Agreement (ALBA-TCP) said in a statement.

The Latin American and Caribbean integration bloc affirmed that the North American country has “no moral standing” to threaten a free and sovereign State such as Venezuela, an example of participatory democracy in our region for the last 25 years, it said.

The Alliance demanded the immediate and unconditional cessation of all illegal sanctions against the Venezuelan people, who “have fought an epic battle for peace” through political dialogue, even in times of excessive aggression against its institutions.

ALBA-TCP ratified its commitment to the defense of “national sovereignty without foreign interference” and made a new call to the international community to condemn this attack.

The United States threatened to reimpose sanctions against the Bolivarian Republic after the sovereign decision of the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ) to ratify the 15-year disqualification of opposition politician María Corina Machado, responsible for punishable actions against the State and its institutions.

In the sentence issued last Friday, the TSJ pointed out that the leader of the Vente Venezuela party is a participant in the “corruption scheme orchestrated by the usurper Juan Guaidó,” who propitiated the “criminal blockade” to the Bolivarian Republic.

Also the “shameless plundering” of companies and wealth of the Venezuelan people abroad, for an approximate value of 34 billion dollars.

It also requested the application of sanctions and economic blockade against the country, which generated damages to the health system and failed to comply with the provisions outlined in the Constitution. (PL)
