| The Israeli Army has destroyed 70 percent of the Gaza health system. |
The director of the Al-Shifa Medical Complex, Mohammed Abu Salmiya, warned that more than 200 patients could die due to the lack of medication and malnutrition caused by Israeli attacks and the blockade of Gaza.
Ramallah.- In an interview with Al Jazeera television, the doctor emphasized that hospitals in the territory are overcrowded with wounded as a result of the army’s continuous bombing, and that the number of amputations due to the inability of antibiotics to combat bacteria is increasing.
A few days ago, the specialist stated that it is impossible to provide health services in the coastal enclave due to the total collapse of the sector, where there are no medications for heart patients.
Since there is no drinking water in Gaza City, the incidence of gastroenteritis is increasing, he said.
Abu Salmiya revealed that some 55,000 pregnant women are suffering from malnutrition in the Strip due to the military siege, and to top it all off, international organizations have trucks loaded with medical aid from across the border in Egypt, but are unable to enter due to Israeli refusal.
Earlier this month, the health official accused the Israeli Armed Forces of destroying 70 percent of the health system in the Strip, where only two children’s hospitals are working, with a capacity of barely 100 beds.
The director of Al-Tahrir Hospital, Ahmed Al-Farra, also denounced the serious deterioration of the health situation in the territory due to the unprecedented increase in malnutrition and the number of patients.
He noted that the center is experiencing a violent wave of paralysis cases, resulting from water contamination. (PL)
