The convoy was sent with tens of thousands of relief items.

The Egyptian Red Crescent Society sent its 73rd convoy to the Gaza Strip, with 9,300 tons of aid to alleviate the humanitarian crisis facing Palestinians there, the organization announced.

Cairo.- The humanitarian institution stated that the convoy was sent with tens of thousands of relief items in anticipation of the imminent arrival of winter and rains, which have already begun to batter the coastal enclave.

It highlighted that the shipment included 5,500 tons of food, 2,400 tons of medical and relief supplies, 1,400 tons of fuel, 106,000 blankets, more than 1,350 mattresses, 40,000 pieces of clothing, and 4,450 tents.

The Egyptian Red Crescent Society highlighted that since the launch of the Zad Al-Azza: From Egypt to Gaza initiative on July 27, more than 130,000 tons of aid have been delivered, in conjunction with the United Nations and international partners.

Foreign Minister Badr Abdellatty recently revealed that Egypt has provided 70 percent of all aid that has entered the Gaza Strip since the beginning of the Israeli aggression in October 2013. (PL)
