PAMI indicators have remained promising in Amancio.

The Maternal and Child Care Program (PAMI in Spanish) is a priority for the country's health system. In the municipality of Amancio, preventive measures are being taken with the aim, among other objectives, of preventing early pregnancies among adolescents.

“Amancio,” Las Tunas.- Liennys Mercedes Calzado París, director of health in this locality, told 26 that "today, in general, we have 103 pregnant women, 12 of whom are underweight; and we have 215 infants, of whom a few are underweight. Birth and pregnancy rates have also decreased, with 53 fewer pregnant women at this time."

To the relief of the municipality and the province, PAMI indicators have remained promising.

“We have only one pregnant teenager. This is due to prevention strategies, with actions such as talks in all educational institutions, in addition to joint work with families, Education, and Health, which allow us to maintain favorable rates in this area.”

Research conducted here indicates that one of the factors negatively influencing the decline in pregnancies and births in Amancio is migration, as many of its inhabitants who have decided to settle outside the territory are women of childbearing age. This demographic pattern is also observed in other parts of the country.

In addition to prevention work with adolescents, health personnel in Amancio closely monitor women over 35 who may be at risk during pregnancy.
