Legal technician Idalmis Oquendo Santos

At the Copextel Las Tunas branch, a place became the starting point for a story of courage and perseverance. Twenty years ago, Idalmis Oquendo Santos arrived almost by chance, seeking to print documents with a friend.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- What seemed like a simple errand turned into a life-changing event; she was told about a vacancy in Human Resources, decided to apply, passed the selection process, and resigned from her previous workplace, the Provincial Pediatric Hospital, where she had worked for ten years.

“My mom was worried,” Idalmis recalls. “She told me not to change jobs; I’d been at the pediatric hospital for many years.” But she thought about growing, about better outcomes. And she was right. Today, after two decades at Copextel, she is preparing to retire from the organization she describes as a family.

“I’m a legal technician by training, but I always approach my work by giving my best and the best of the organization to move forward.”

In a complex national context, she highlights that Copextel maintains strong results, thanks to a dedicated and hardworking team. She proudly points out the current contribution to photovoltaic systems and solar farms, which not only provide economic incentives for workers but also benefit the country.

“Copextel is known for constantly challenging its staff. Although training used to be in-person across all provinces, today it is conducted virtually, but the goal remains to continue training its workers in technical and economic fields.”

Idalmis is the mother of a son. When she joined Copextel, he was 12 years old. And although the family had doubts at first, time proved her right. She is living proof that changes, with determination and talent, bear fruit.
Stories like that of Idalmis Oquendo Santos are not isolated anecdotes. At Copextel, for two decades, she has managed human talent, fostered professional growth, and contributed to the country from her position.
