From the Canary Islands, a new gesture of solidarity broke the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba. Members of the "A Cuba hay que quererla" project (We must love Cuba), part of the Canary Islands-Cuba Solidarity Network, made two donations of medical supplies and medications to pediatric hospitals in the province.
Las Tunas, Cuba.– The beneficiaries were the “Mártires de Las Tunas,” in the provincial capital, and the “Raymundo Castro Morales,” in the municipality of Puerto Padre. The deliveries were coordinated with the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR), thus strengthening the assistance provided to vital institutions.
José Luis Mosqueta Relova, president of the Network, highlighted that this is the fourteenth time his organization has delivered aid to the pediatric hospital in the provincial capital. Their objective is always to support public health entities.
In this city, a reception ceremony was held before a group of healthcare professionals, members of the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR), and representatives of the provincial government. The director of the pediatric hospital, Dr. María Cristina Cisneros, expressed her gratitude for the donation and emphasized that this act of solidarity contributes to the improvement of the quality of healthcare services. The benefit extends to the children and adolescents of Las Tunas and the surrounding areas.

In Puerto Padre, a moving ceremony marked the delivery of the supplies to the administration of the healthcare unit. Mosqueta Relova and Edy Sander Sánchez Concepción, coordinator of the CDR in the Cuban Eastern Balcony, were received by Dr. Masiel Peña Pérez.
The shipment destined for the Villa Azul (Blue Village) includes syringes, oral rehydration solutions, antibiotics, and other medications. It will improve medical care for children under 18 years of age in that municipality, in “Jesús Menéndez,” and some communities in neighboring Holguín province.
The Canary Islands Network of Solidarity with Cuba, which collaborates with the Association of Cuban Residents in Gran Canaria, was founded in 2023. Its creation responded to the increased needs caused by the intensified blockade.
Representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, as well as Public Health officials, were present at both events.
This is the second contribution of the "A Cuba hay que quererla" project to Puerto Padre. The first was to the Guillermo Domínguez López General Teaching Hospital in 2023.
