The red, white, and blue school uniform colors flooded the streets of Las Tunas from early on. On the backpacks, many dreams wait to be fulfilled; on the faces, the expectation of being the future of a country that, above all, bets on the education of its children.
Las Tunas, Cuba.- The 2024-2025 school year drew its curtains and more than 79 thousand students of all levels occupied the classrooms of some 674 schools, which today wear their best clothes to welcome children, adolescents, and young people with balloons, a hug, a song, and the joy of being in their second home.
Emotions were running high, smiles at the reunion with friends from the classroom, and a few tears because the time had come to leave home to attend school daily. The family needs to be a constant companion and vital support so that the celebration of knowledge is always a happy journey.
At the Pequeños Capullos childcare center, in the Aguilera neighborhood, a simple but emotional reception welcomed those who today wear their preschool uniform and can barely contain their eagerness to discover their books of tracing, writing, and math notions.
Such is the case of Malena Quintana Rojas, who started the school party long before this teaching calendar began because since she had her new uniform, she reviewed on more than one occasion how she would look with her red bow in her hair. Of course, the whole family attended her preschool classroom to save such an important moment in memory.
The colors of the Cuban flag colored social media today, and the good omens of family members and teachers overcome any setback; because the intense work of ensuring this 2024-2025 school year shows the effort and commitment of an entire nation.
Today, Las Tunas woke up with flowers for José Martí and the Cuban flag flying more sovereign than ever. While families return to their daily tasks, the seed of knowledge is sown among pencils, notebooks, and textbooks. (ACN)
