The Defense Council of the province of Las Tunas (CDP) implemented several measures to reduce the risks of contagion with the new SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus in the face of the positive diagnosis of new cases, to which specialized medical care is provided in two health institutions of the territory.
Las Tunas, Cuba.- One of the main provisions is the restriction of access to hospitals and care centers, to which is added the revaluation of the escort service of patients admitted for other ailments, to minimize the risk of infection.
Although there are already three isolation centers, these days others are being enabled and prepared to guarantee the confrontation with possible outbreaks. In all cases, they will have the necessary foodstuffs and supplies for accommodation, in addition to health personnel dedicated to epidemiological surveillance.
The rehabilitation of the three checkpoints at the provincial border was also announced to carry out active medical inquiries in real time, both for drivers and passengers from the western region. These teams are arranged in the municipalities of Manatí and “Colombia,” and on the Central Highway, on the border with Camagüey.
Other priorities for the Provincial Defense Council are the availability of chlorine and various inputs to guarantee disinfection, food production, and water supply to the population and state entities.
Until the closing of this information, in Las Tunas there is no autochthonous transmission of the COVID-19 and the province remains in the third phase of the recovery stage; but it insists on the individual responsibility of the residents in the territory with the correct use of the facemask, the physical distancing in the queues and the presentation in the health units before the appearance of any symptom associated with the disease.
