More than 130 Education workers provide their services at the isolation centers set up in educational institutions in six municipalities for the epidemiological surveillance of suspected cases of COVID-19 or their contacts, as well as other populations that due to their characteristics have some risks of suffering the disease.
Las Tunas, Cuba.- A total of 45 teachers and 93 non-teachers are in charge of everything related to logistics, food and its processing, cleaning, maintenance and guarding the facilities. All these activities are carried out without having direct contact with the patients who pass through there, the sector executives told 26Digital.
There are more than isolated cases in the nine schools prepared here for this purpose; of them, more than 40 are people with wandering behavior and more than 50 national travelers. The authorities point out that in each case without exception, all preventive measures and health precautions are taken to avoid contagion and the spread of the new coronavirus.
The same source said that these are days of intense work, in which the educators fulfill the assigned mission in these times of pandemic. The centers with this work are the Frank País special school, in the town of Manatí; the mixed Asalto al Polvorín center and the Raúl Zayas special school, in Puerto Padre; the Melton Almaguer mixed center, in “Jesús Menéndez”; the Combate de Tana pioneers palace and the Anacaona rural secondary school, in “Colombia”; the 28 de Enero special school, in Majibacoa; and in the main city, the Rita Longa pedagogical school and the José Martí pioneers palace.
