Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez noted that the accumulated damage caused by the United States' economic, commercial, and financial blockade against Cuba amounts to 159.084 billion dollars.
Havana, Cuba.- Rodríguez disclosed this figure during the presentation to the members of the diplomatic corps accredited in Cuba of the National Report on the effects of Washington’s economic blockade against Havana from March 2022 to February 2023.
On November 1st and 2nd, the UNGA will consider a draft resolution on the need to end the blockade against Cuba.
Since 2019, the US government has escalated the blockade measures to an extreme, more harmful, cruel and inhumane dimension. It deprives Cuba of the income essential to acquire food, fuel, raw materials and equipment. It causes lack, difficulties and anxiety for Cuban families. It is a massive, flagrant and systematic violation of Human Rights.
For more than six decades the United States has unilaterally imposed an economic, commercial, and financial blockade on Cuba, which has intensified in recent years, despite the worldwide clamor since 1992 at the United Nations General Assembly for the White House to lift it. (PL)
