Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez today reaffirmed the will of the Cuban government to make the necessary efforts to protect national and global biodiversity.
Havana, Cuba.- "On the International Day of Biological Diversity, we reiterate Cuba’s commitment to the protection of nature and biodiversity, reflected in the National Plan on that area," he stated on X.
Rodríguez pointed out in that platform that "a change in the levels of consumption, exploitation and environmental pollution promoted by the world capitalist system is urgently needed."
This Thursday, humanity celebrates the International Day of Biological Diversity, which aims to raise awareness about the importance of biodiversity for life and the need to preserve it for future generations.
This year, the date established by the United Nations Organization is commemorated under the theme "Harmony with nature and sustainable development."
In this way, the UN recalls the Convention on Biological Diversity signed on May 22, 1992, an instrument that aims to protect and preserve the planet’s biological diversity. (PL)
