The Western, Central, and Eastern Armies initiated the Year of Defense Preparation this January 12th, with ceremonies that reaffirmed the combat readiness of the Revolutionary Armed Forces and the commitment to protect national sovereignty, reported the armed institutions from their Facebook profiles.
The official ceremony was held at the Headquarters of the Western Army, where officers, combatants, and civilian workers reaffirmed that the defense of the Homeland constitutes the duty and honor of every citizen.
The Central Army held its ceremony in the corresponding Military Region, with the participation of high-ranking officers and young combatants, who confirmed the responsibility to strengthen technical and political preparation in defense of the country.
Divisional General Eugenio Armando Rabilero Aguilera, head of the Eastern Army, and Joel Queipo Ruiz, First Secretary of the Provincial Committee of the Communist Party in Holguín, led the ceremony in that territory alongside high-ranking leaders of the FAR (Revolutionary Armed Forces) and the Ministry of the Interior.
During the activities, officers, young combatants, and civilian workers were decorated with the Distinguished Service Distinction of the Revolutionary Armed Forces, in recognition of merits accumulated in various tasks.
Other participants received the membership card accrediting them as members of the Communist Party of Cuba and the Young Communists League, a symbol of revolutionary trust and responsibility.
The ceremonies highlighted the validity of the War of All the People doctrine, emphasizing that combat preparation multiplies the response capacity of the armed forces in any scenario. (CubaSí)
