Cuban Revolution leader Raúl Castro and President Miguel Díaz-Canel paid tribute to the Cuban combatants who died defending Venezuela.

Havana, Cuba.- At the headquarters of the Ministry of the Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR), Raul also paid tribute to each of the 32 Cubans who died on January 3, when US military forces conducted an operation to arrest Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores.

Interior Minister Lázaro Álvarez Casas and FAR Minister Álvaro López participated in the solemn ceremony along with Raúl Castro and Díaz-Canel.

The remains of the 32 soldiers arrived in Havana, where the people paid tribute to them at the FAR headquarters.

The combatants received posthumous military promotions as a fitting and well-deserved tribute to their heroism, the Cuban Government informed.

As part of the public tribute, Havana residents gather at the Anti-Imperialist Tribune, in front of the US mission in Havana, on Friday to express their homage in a March of the Combatant People.

Simultaneous ceremonies are held in all provincial capitals this Friday. Theheroes will be buried in the Fallen for the Defense pantheons of their respective towns. (PL)
