Las Tunas needs 954 teachers to complete its educational coverage.

The educational system of Las Tunas is seeking strategies to resolve the need for 954 pedagogues, out of the projected 13,052 teachers in the classrooms, since the enrollment of students increased by 800 compared to the previous school calendar.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- Although the demand is covered at 95 percent, a panorama not so unfavorable compared to other territories of the country, the Education sector is exploring all possibilities as part of the guarantees for the school year beginning this September 2.

The reintegration of 155 retired teachers is expected and work is being done with about 200 who are out of work, explained the highest authorities of the sector in this eastern province.

A total of 550 graduates will join the classrooms, of which 439 are from the pedagogical schools and 111 from the University of Las Tunas, who were given their placement forms to enter the exercise of their profession.

Likewise, due to the alliances between the University of Las Tunas and the University Student Federation (FEU), a schedule was drawn up for the insertion into the task of Educating with Love once the course begins, as was known in a recent work meeting.

Considering the different modalities of the curriculum of each career and the benefits approved as incentives by the Ministry of Higher Education, the General Directorates of Education in Las Tunas seek the incorporation of students from all careers, as contracted teachers.

In the 2023-2024 academic year, 798 teachers were laid off, with primary and basic secondary education being the most affected by an exodus of 410 and 168, respectively; and although in the province the historical behavior of inactive professors is 705, to date it is 618.

While families guaranteed a large part of the logistics so that the start or return to classes is a real party, in the 674 institutions that make up the school network this calendar all the details of cleaning and organization were taken into account to receive the more than 79 thousand students of all levels.
