Given the proximity of the now tropical storm Elsa to the country, the Dr. Ernesto Guevara General Teaching Hospital, the most important health facility in Las Tunas, adopts measures to protect material resources, preserve the lives of workers and patients, and guarantee the continuity of the medical assistance.

Recognition to outstanding blood donors

Félix Sánchez Rodríguez was 18 years old when he extended his arm for the first time to donate blood. He did so with the certainty that he would save lives and, for that reason, he returned many other times. Now, with more than four decades, he remembers his beginnings in this noble task and the naturalness in his words reveals the simple human being that inhabits him.

Dr. Ernesto Guevara de la Serna General Teaching Hospital arrived on June 14 to its 41st anniversary, in the midst of the confrontation with the COVID-19; which has demanded to redouble efforts in this vital healthcare scenario and, at the same time, has allowed the registration of a new page in the constant battle for life.

 Some 21,000 Las Tunas people donate blood.

The voluntary blood donors of Las Tunas maintained their leading role among those in other parts of the country who promote this solidarity movement; and, once again, placed the province in the group of outstanding at the national level.
