Las Tunas has four active solar parks
Solar parks already generate 11 MW.

The provincial management of the Electricity Company in Las Tunas is promoting investments to make the province a quarry of renewable energies in the country.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- The climatic conditions of the territory are favorable for the promotion and exploitation of clean energy sources, in such a way that this eastern territory is beginning to be called the potential capital of renewable energies on the island.

Jorge Luis Santana Cordero, Investment Director of the Electricity Company, confirmed that work on the La Herradura 1 wind farm must continue with 11 work objects to complete them before the arrival of the remaining resources that will allow the synchronization of the first 22 wind turbines, which should add up to 33 MW.

Other works included in this project are the electrical substation, the operations center, and the 110 kV distribution lines that will link it to the National Electricity System (SEN).

The La Herradura 2 wind farm, which plans to install 30 MW, and another farm in the municipality of Manatí, are part of the efforts to change the energy matrix.

Added to all these efforts is the photovoltaic solar energy program, which has four active parks that generate 11 MW, and another two are being built in the municipality of Puerto Padre.

With the completion of all these projects, an installed capacity in renewable energy of 441.5 MW could be reached, which would cover the province's demand and contribute to the SEN.
