Cuban deputy PM Inés María Chapman toured hydraulic works in Las Tunas.

Inés María Chapman Waugh, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Cuba, reviewed the implementation of major investments in the hydraulic sector, in the municipalities of Jesús Menéndez and Las Tunas, and urged "a more comprehensive approach to jointly execute all the remaining projects. It's hard work, but it must be completed because it has the support of the state budget and aims to improve the population's life quality."

Las Tunas, Cuba.- Chapman Waugh made these statements after verifying the work being carried out in the Juan Sáez Dam water treatment plant, in “Jesús Menéndez.” The project is intended to improve the water supply to approximately 24,000 people and address economic needs in that area and the town of Delicias (Puerto Padre). The plant is 95 percent complete, and its commissioning requires the completion of the feeder canal, the pumping station, and the water treatment plant. The pipelines are already completed.

She recalled that the project began with an international loan that was halted. So, the state budget then assumed its financing. It continues receiving the necessary resources amid the country's difficult economic situation, intending to give this facility a use value as part of the program that ensures a stable, high-quality water supply to the people and the economy. She indicated they would adjust the schedule to current conditions and work together to complete the investment. "There is still much work to be done. It is very hard because it includes some civil works, the installation of the technological equipment already in place, and the maintenance of the already installed water treatment plant.

She expressed confidence that "the completion of the project is possible because it is included in the State budget and the economic plan, but we have to work together," referring to the effort of the agencies committed to the works currently undertaken.

Civil engineer Maikel Brito Peña, director-general of the Construction and Assembly Company (Conalza), explained that the forces in charge of the civil works are on the job to deliver them in honor of the new anniversary of the assault on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes barracks, on July 26.

The Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Cuba also praised the investment work on CP-4, on 39 Street, and those related to the connection of Node 6, which will connect the water coming from El Rincón and Piedra Hueca, which will allow the new pipeline to be used in that area of the Las Tunas capital. Both are located in the Buena Vista neighborhood.

On the journey, which took her to the El Rincón hydraulic complex, the main source of supply for Las Tunas City, Chapman Waugh was accompanied by Osbel Lorenzo Rodríguez, first secretary of the Provincial Committee of the Cuban Communist Party; Yelenis Tornet Menéndez, governor of Las Tunas; and Antonio Rodríguez, president of the National Institute of Hydraulic Resources (INHR).
