At the Las Tunas Salt Mine Base Business Unit, they overcome challenges every day. These efforts, and their results, were recognized by the Energy and Mines Union (SNTEM, in Spanish) with the National Distinguished Collective Award.

The "Jesús Menéndez" agricultural production pole covers some 2,016 hectares in the municipality of the same name in Las Tunas. Although not all of this land is currently under cultivation, a strategy is in place to incorporate all areas into food production.
